Six3X exists because most "DeWalt vs Milwaukee" articles are rewritten press releases. We take a different approach: we build every comparison from published independent testing and manufacturer documentation, we show our sources, and we don't pretend to have done lab work we haven't done.

Our methodology

  • Exact model numbers. "DeWalt 20V drill" means nothing — the DCD801B and DCD999B are different tools for different people. We compare specific models, and we always note whether a price is for a bare tool or a kit with batteries and charger.
  • Independent testing over marketing. Specs come from manufacturers, but verdicts come from published testing by Wirecutter, Consumer Reports, Garage Tested, GuideSpot, and specialist tool publications. We link to all of them so you can verify.
  • Ecosystem honesty. The right cordless tool usually depends on the batteries you already own. Our verdicts factor in platform size, warranty length, and long-term cost of ownership — not just torque numbers.
  • Dated prices, honest caveats. Street prices for power tools move constantly. We quote typical prices as of the date on each article and tell you to check current listings before buying.

What we don't do

We don't run a test lab, and we won't claim we did. When a runtime or durability figure appears on this site, it comes from a named, linked source. We don't accept sponsored placements, we don't rate products with invented star ratings, and no tool manufacturer reviews our content before publication.

Affiliate disclosure

Six3X is reader-supported. Affiliate links are not yet active on this site — when we enroll in retailer affiliate programs, links to retailers may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you, and we'll disclose it on every page where it applies. This never influences our rankings — the tools we recommend as the best value are the same ones we'd tell a friend to buy. If we ever enter a sponsored arrangement with a manufacturer, we'll disclose it prominently on this page and on every affected article.

Keep researching

Our six practical buying guides cover tool types, hammer mode, motor upgrades, voltage labels, batteries, and complete kit costs. Start with the decision you need to make, then use the model comparisons to narrow your shortlist.
